Good Friday breakfast a no-go

Although it became a tradition for some over the past 15-plus years, the Fort Frances Kiwanis Club will not be hosting a Good Friday breakfast this year.
Kiwanian Dr. Robert Lidkea said the board of the directors decided not to hold it this year as some felt the event fell outside the club’s mandate to work with children, and was more of an adult event.
That said, Dr. Lidkea noted he personally wanted to see the Good Friday breakfast continue.
“I thought it was super that so many people from so many churches and faiths could all get together and worship as one people,” he remarked.
The event began here back in 1994 by Kiwanis past governor Ken Koprowski to celebrate Good Friday in a spirit of unity.
The Kiwanis even subsidized a portion of the meal cost as a way of giving back to the community.
The breakfast grew more and more popular, and in recent years nearly always had sold out.
