“Go Local” is celebrating its fourth birthday this month.
And in an effort to further promote local spending, residents are being urged to take the “10% for 10 Pledge.”
Right now, “Go Local” will give members 10 free points in exchange for their pledge to spend 10 percent more locally.
“We decided to shift the way we market the program this year, and make it more about celebrating the community and creating ownership among people in the community,” said Natasha Gaudio, economic development co-ordinator with the Rainy River Future Development Corp.
“We’re calling it ‘Go a Little More Local’ because spending just a little bit more locally will have great benefits for our local economy,” she noted.
To take the pledge, find “Go Local Fort Frances” on Facebook or visit golocalfortfrances.com and click on the “Go a Little More Local” button.
If anyone has trouble with taking the pledge (for instance, if they don’t use Facebook), they can call Gaudio at 274-9621 and she’ll issue their points.

Over the past four years, 3,712 members have earned more than three million “Go Local” points by shopping locally at any of the 33 participating businesses.
To become a “Go Local” member, stop by any participating businesses or call 274-9621.
To collect points, shop at participating businesses and present your card when you meet that business’ “Go Local” requirement, such as spending over a certain amount of money.
Upon accumulating 300 rewards points, you will be issued a $25 gift card to use at any of the “Go Local” businesses.
