Gillons’ becomes a ‘Go Local’ supporter

Press Release

Go Local Fort Frances would like to officially welcome local business Gillons’ Insurance as a supporting member.
As a thank you, George Emes, chair of the Rainy River Future Development Corp. board of directors, presented a “Go Local” plaque to Gillons’ president and CEO Duane Cridland.
With a local history of almost 90 years, Gillons’ is well-qualified to become a “Go Local” supporter.
Although industry regulations prohibit Gillons’ from awarding points, they still wish to endorse the cause and encourage the community to “Go Local.”
The presentation to Gillons’ Insurance was one of the events being held in November to celebrate “Go Local” Month.
It has been one year since the program’s inception and its positive impacts are becoming evident.
Recent consumer surveys conducted in the community indicate that half the households in Fort Frances have at least one “Go Local” membership while 73 percent of residents agree that shopping locally builds a stronger community.
Other activities being held as part of “Go Local” Month include presentations to business groups, participation in the “Festival of Frost” on Nov. 30, a month-long “Shop 5 for 25”promotion, an online social media quiz, and draws for “Go Local” gift cards.
