GFL Environmental recently bought out Asselin Transportation.

Eldon Mose, former owner, says the buyout was something he saw coming, and something he desired.

“They took the responsibility from me,” says Mose. “Which is what I wanted.”

Mose is in the process of retiring. His son, Jeff will run the business from now on. He says the company will continue to run as usual.

He says Asselin was a successful company when he bought it in 1991, and has maintained said success for the past 30 years.

“We hope that carries on,” says Mose. “It’s been a pleasure all the way through.”

Darren Myshok, GFL district manager, says opportunities exist everywhere, but here, the timing was right.

“It’s a great opportunity,” says Myshok. “I hope everybody really enjoys what we can offer.”

In addition to buying out Asselin, GFL also bought out a part of Dennis Robinson Ltd.

Darren Robinson says any trucks and equipment that went with the refuge business were sold.

“I think eventually they’re going to be able to offer a lot more to customers than what we could,” he says. “So I think it’s going to be a good thing for the area.”

Dennis Robinson Ltd. still offers the rest of their usual services — GFL only bought out the solid waste management portion of the company.
