The Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service responded to a garage fire on the 900 block of Christie Avenue North yesterday evening.
Sixteen firefighters responded to the blaze, which was reported at 6 p.m., Fort Frances Fire Chief Gerry Armstrong said this morning.
He noted firefighters were on the scene for about two-and-a-half hours.
The structure received significant damage from the fire and smoke, but was “not a total loss by any means,” Chief Armstrong added.
No injuries were reported, and the blaze was confined to the structure.
Chief Armstrong said the cause of the fire remains under investigation, but it appears a work area was being heated and it may have stemmed from that.
