The Fort Frances OPP is reminding residents to “Lock It or Lose It!”
Town residents are being encouraged to lock up their valuables inside their homes, garages, and vehicles.
The local detachment is pleased to welcome four new employees to its Summer Experience Program. They will be on bicycle patrol around the community helping deliver the ‘Lock It or Lose It!’ message.
The purpose of the program is to raise awareness of crime prevention and inform people about crime-proofing ideas.
The OPP encourages you to become aware of the many easy ways to help crime-proof yourself and your family. Take the time—and the necessary steps—that reduce the opportunity for crime:
•Lock up your possessions.
•Use and maintain your exterior motion lights, light up those alleys!
•Inform a neighbour to keep a watch over your property if you are leaving your residence.
•Most importantly, if you realize you have been a victim of a break-and-enter, call the police immediately, do not touch anything, and allow the police to complete their investigation.
