‘Friends of Library’ plan tag day

The Friends of the Fort Frances Public Library held its first meeting of the season on Sept. 16.
This group of library supporters will be starting their fundraising activities with their second-annual tag day on Friday, Oct. 1. Volunteers will be at various locations throughout town during the day.
Please be generous. This year’s project is new shelving that will be a better height for both library patrons and staff.
An exciting new event coming up soon will be a “Bring Your Own Book Bag” (BYOBB) book sale, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m.-noon at the Fort Frances Public Library.
Bring a bag and fill it with books, then pay whatever you want to pay! What book-lover can resist a deal like that?
The Friends of the Library also is updating its volunteer list.
In the past, the annual membership drive provided this information. That event has been discontinued, but they still need to know who would like to be called to help with such activities as baking, tag day, ticket sales, book sales, shut-in delivery, computer trainer, and library helper.
If you are interested in helping with any of these activities, be sure to sign up at one of the library desks.
The group is working on other fundraising plans and always is looking for new ideas. The dance has been postponed to a later date, but the annual “Love Your Library” draw will be ready for supporters to buy raffle tickets for Christmas stocking stuffers.
The group’s next meeting is slated for Thursday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. downstairs in the library. Anyone interested in helping our library be the best it can be is welcome to attend.
