Friends fundraising

Safeway manager Mike Scott so far is very pleased with the sale of tickets for the two four-wheelers that will be raffled on the May and September long weekends respectively to raise money for “Friends of the Animals.”
“Badiuk Equipment was very generous to give us these four-wheelers,” Scott said Friday. “Our focus has always been just to get them paid off and so far we have almost done that for one of them.
“We are very happy with the way the sales have gone so far,” he remarked.
Although there’s less than two months left before the first draw is held, Scott is hoping ticket sales will continue to go well–and may even give them the chance to draw for both at the same time.
“We are currently planning on only drawing for one of the four-wheelers in May,” Scott noted. “But if the ticket sales continue to go as they have, then we may try to draw them both at the same time.
“If there are no tickets left to buy, then there is no reason not to draw for them both. Then people will have the chance to enjoy them over the summer,” he reasoned.
While the focus of Safeway and “Friends of the Animals” currently is on the upcoming draws, Scott is very excited about the other fundraising events scheduled for the year.
“We have sat down with Susan Cousineau and discussed what we are going to do for the year,” he said. “We are really looking forward to the barbecues that are coming up.
“With the new gas bar, we should be getting a lot more tourists passing through. We are expecting the barbecues to be a success,” he added.
“We are also excited about the September ‘Paws in the Park’ that we have been planning,” Scott continued. “‘When Friends of the Animals’ comes up with an event, we are very happy to do it.
We think this dog walk is going to be just great.”
