For the fourth time this year, the Lions Millennium Park fountain has been flooded with suds.
This time, however, due to the impending long weekend, there isn’t time to properly clean it so it will be shut down until Tuesday.
“We’ve got to drain it, we’ve got to clean up the soap suds, and put new water in it,” explained Operations and Facilities manager Doug Brown.
While soapy vandalism may not appear to be as nefarious as spray paint or toilet paper, cleaning the fountain requires a crew working all day.
“The process takes four man days because of this,” Brown noted.
This latest vandalism comes on the heels of Brown’s call earlier this week for citizens to report property damage at local parks.
Public washrooms have been particular targets of late, requiring monitoring by police and the town.
The public is encouraged to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 to report incidents of crime.
As well, anyone may contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS to offer information to police that may help officers solve a crime.
