In an unprecedented step, all three living former Fort Frances mayors have come together to endorse Roy Avis for the job in the Nov. 13 election.
“Roy served as member of my municipal council for six years. He will be an excellent mayor and move Fort Frances in the right direction for the next four years.” said Glenn Witherspoon, who was mayor from 1992-2003.
“I congratulate Roy Avis for agreeing to let his name stand to represent the citizens of Fort Frances in the upcoming municipal election,” said Dick Lyons, the mayor from 1986-91.
“Fort Frances residents are fortunate to have a person of Roy’s integrity, experience, and dedication to the community as a choice when they vote this November,” he added.
“I worked with Roy as a member of council. He makes sound decisions based on what is best for the citizens of our community,” echoed Deane Cunningham, who was mayor from 1980-85.
“As mayor, Roy will represent Fort Frances with honesty and integrity.”
Including their terms as councillors, these three former mayors represent 44 years of public service to the Town of Fort Frances.
