Football Muskies will play

A consistent number of players at practice this week means the Muskie football team will be able to play its game tomorrow against the host Tec Voc Hornets.
“We are good to go,” Muskie head coach Mike Cuzzolino told the Times this morning.
The Muskies were forced to cancel their WHSFL season-opener last Friday afternoon against the Churchill Bulldogs in Winnipeg after FFHS administrators felt not enough players had received adequate practice time.
As such, the Bulldogs were awarded a 19-0 win.
The Muskies (0-1) then are scheduled to host the Elmwood Giants (1-0) in their home-opener next Friday (Sept. 21) at 4 p.m.
In related news, the black-and-gold will be holding a fundraising barbecue this Saturday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Safeway.
As well, the team once again is selling discount cards at a cost of $20 each.
Players will be going door-to-door on Sept. 17-18 and Sept. 25-26, with cards also available for purchase at McTaggarts.
Sixteen businesses are featured on the card this year, including McTaggarts, Curvy Chick, From the Grind Up, Northwoods, A&W, Copper River Inn, Rainy Lake Sports, Taggs Source for Sports, Boston Pizza, Dairy Queen, Domino’s, Mr. Sub, and Stan’s Carper & Drapery here in town.
The other sponsors include Tompkins Hardware and the Hair & Body Care Shoppe in Emo, as well as the Great Bear east of Fort Frances.
