With Easter nearly upon us, parishioners of all denominations are welcome to come out Monday evening (April 6) and follow the “Way of the Cross” for justice and peace.
Starting at 7 p.m. at Knox United Church, a procession carrying a large crucifix will walk to various places around town and offer prayer and reflection at each stop.
There will be 14 stops in total, with the procession ending at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Fr. Wayne McIntosh of St. John’s Anglican Church said the theme of the event is justice.
“We’ll be looking at, with each station, different justice issues,” he explained. “The focus will be on justice.
“As we walk the Way of the Cross, we’ll reflect upon the crosses that people bear in their lives as a result of the injustices that are in the world.”
While the event is being organized by St. Mary’s, St. John’s Anglican, Zion Lutheran, and Knox United, all are welcome to attend, stressed Fr. McIntosh.
Although some local churches have done the stations of the cross on their own in the past, Fr. McIntosh noted they traditionally haven’t done it together nor out in the community.
