He’s brought songs about the old west to life for decades, and now Juno Award-winning musician Gary Fjellgaard is returning to Fort Frances to share his music this Thursday (Oct. 8).
With the show slated for 7:30 p.m. at the Little Beaver Snow Park lodge, Fjellgaard will be joined by fellow musicians and “prairie folks,” Saskia and Darrel Delaronde.
Local residents may remember Fjellgaard from a few years ago when he visited the area to perform with folk icon, Valdy.
As a country and folk singer, Fjellgaard has garnered recognition after recognition over the years.
Along with receiving a Juno Award for “country male vocalist” of the year in 1993, he also has been recognized by the Canadian Country Music Association with awards for male artist, song and single of the year, duo of the year, and even a Humanitarian Achievement Award.
In 2005, he was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Association’s Hall of Fame.
With more than a dozen CDs to his credit, Fjellgaard will be bringing with him his newest release, “All in the Journey.”
During the evening, Fjellgaard will be joined by Saskia and Delaronde—a musical duo who perform contemporary and original folk music.
With six albums of their own, the pair have their own list of accomplishments, including multiple nominations over the past few years for the Saskatchewan Country Music Association Awards.
Tickets, which cost $20 each, are available in advance by contacting Bob Hamilton at 274-8782 and at the door.
