On Thursday (Feb. 24), officers of the Fort Frances Community Drug Action Team, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, and the Rainy River District OPP detachment executed two warrants at two separate locations.
As a result of a warrant executed at a residence in La Vallee Township, Megan Soucy, 26 and John Paterson, 31, were charged with two counts each of production of marijuana.
As a result of a second warrant executed at a residence in Chapple Township, Roger Pellerin Jr., 27, and Jodi Caul, 23, both of Potts Township, were charged with two counts each for possession of marijuana and two counts each for insecure storage of a firearm.
The OPP seized $37,500 worth of drugs, including 36 marijuana plants, a quantity of marijuana bud, and a quantity of prescription pills.
Police also seized two insecure firearms.
In related news, the Fort Frances Community Drug Action Team, along with Rainy River District OPP, arrested a male on Couchiching First Nation on Feb. 15 for possession of Oxycodone (i.e., OxyContin).
At the time of the arrest, the male had several OxyContin pills in his possession without a prescription.
The male will appear in court here in March.
The man’s name was not released because this investigation remains ongoing.
