Press Release
Past and current CN employees and their spouses are hosting a community fish fry to help kick-off “Railroad Daze” this Friday evening (July 15) in Rainy River.
The event, dubbed “Fishing For Doctors,” is being hosted with the support of the CN Railroaders in the Community program.
In this instance, active and retired CN employees and their families are volunteering hours in support of the Rainy River locum housing project.
In return, CN recognizes those volunteer efforts with a cash donation to the fund.
All the supplies for the fish fry have been donated and 100 percent of the money raised will be donated to the locum housing project.
The “Fishing for Doctors” committee particularly would like to thank Big Grassy First Nation, which generously donated all the fish for this event.
The supper will run from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Hannam Park, with the rec centre designated as an alternate site in the event of inclement weather.
The meal will include walleye, a roll, potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw, beverage, and dessert, with the cost being $15/person.
Can’t get there? No problem. Home delivery will be available in Rainy River.
Bookings are being taken at both Heritage House and River View, or call Eltjo Wiersema (852-4405) for service to the door.
The Caribbean Tropical Island Show will be held immediately after the “Fishing For Doctors” supper (from 7-9 p.m.)
