The Fort Frances Fire Department was called to both the Riverwalk Condominiums and Rose Manor within minutes of each other yesterday evening.
Firefighters were called to the condos around 6:15 p.m. after a fire alarm went off there, the department said.
After investigation, it was determined the alarm was set off by a faulty heat detector in the furnace room there.
The fire department was on the scene for about an hour and-a-half.
Meanwhile, about five minutes after they were called to the condos, a second call came in from Rose Manor.
Some firefighters left the scene at the condos and, joined by more firefighters, responded to this second call.
Investigation there revealed the alarm to be another faulty heat detector.
To add to the busy evening, the fire hall also was hosting a group of Sparks when the fire calls came in.
With temperatures dropping at this time of year, the fire department is reminding local residents to check their furnace filters, and clean or change them if necessary.
