Fire scene stays quiet

The forest fire hazard remains “low” across the West Fire Region, with no new fires reported in recent days.
One fire remains active in the region. Thunder Bay Fire #62 is smouldering in a wood debris pile.
It is being monitored, and no problems are anticipated.
There have been 351 fires to date in the West Fire Region, consuming 9,598.1 hectares.
As September progresses, FireRanger crew members have completed, or are soon completing, their seasonal contracts.
Preparations also are ongoing for winterizing and closing down forward fire attack bases, and caches of equipment in the far north are being picked up for over-winter warehousing.
