Fire scene slowing up

One new fire was confirmed in the Northwest Region by early yesterday evening.
Thunder Bay Fire #76 was found by an MNRF helicopter working on a nearby fire south of Whitewater Lake in Wabakimi Provincial Park, about 260 km north of Thunder Bay.
The 0.1-hectare, lightning-caused fire was declared “out.”
There currently are 31 active fires in the region, including 29 listed as “under observation,” two as “under control,” and one as “not under control.”
Two fires were declared “out.”
The fire hazard currently is “low” throughout the Red Lake and Sioux Lookout Districts while a “low” to “moderate” hazard exists in the Fort Frances, Kenora, and Dryden districts.
Thunder Bay District and the southern portions of Nipigon District feature a “moderate” hazard.
