Fifth Street West will be restricted to local traffic only from Portage Avenue to Wright Avenue again tomorrow beginning at 7:30 a.m.
That’s because town crews continue to grade, water, and pack the roadway in preparation for the upcoming surface treatment next week.
The closure will allow town crews to work in a safe manner, as well as reduce the amount of dust created by vehicle traffic driving over the newly-placed granular material.
The work will be completed by 7 p.m. tomorrow, at which time the street will be re-opened to traffic.
In related news, the curb crew for the so-called “biomass road” project on Portage Avenue this week has been installing concrete curb and gutter along Portage Avenue from First Street to Sixth Street.
They will be followed by the asphalt crew, which will pave that same stretch of Portage Avenue.
Depending on the weather, this should take two-three weeks altogether.
