“By the Numbers” is the name of this year’s musical revue at Fort Frances High School and the public will get a chance to see the students shine on the stage at the Townshend Theatre next week.
“It’s songs that have numbers in them, or are about numbers,” said producer and Fort High music teacher John Dutton.
“It’s a wide variety of stuff—singing and dancing like we’ve done in previous years,” he added, noting the tunes range from “Tea for Two” (from the Broadway hit, “No, No Nanette”) to Prince’s “1999” and Silverchair’s “Anthem to the Year 2000.”
“We hope people will come out and see it,” said Dutton. “Lots of kids graduated last year, so we have lots of new faces on the stage.
“But there’s some who were in Grade 9 and 10 last year that are returning, too.”
About 30 students—ranging from Grade 9-12—will be on stage singing and dancing while dozens more will be in the band and behind-the-scenes, Dutton noted.
He said last year’s musical revue, “Hitchin’ a Ride,” was quite successful with about 1,400 people attending over the four nights.
The show, which the performers and band have been rehearsing for since the second week of September, runs Nov. 12-15 at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are available at Northwoods Gallery and Gifts on Scott Street and at the theatre box office before the show. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for students and children.
