Looking to stage more activities aimed at teens, the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship has scheduled basketball and street hockey tournaments, along with a skateboarding demonstration, during this year’s event.
But registrations have been slow so far and in a push to get enough youths signed up to allow these activities to go ahead, the FFCBC is holding a sign-up day next Tuesday (July 12) from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce office (474 Scott St.)
There, youngsters can register for the 3-on-3 basketball tourney that is scheduled for Wednesday, July 20. Teams must include three players aged 14-18, one of whom must be a girl.
A maximum of 10 teams will be accepted.
Meanwhile, teens also can sign up for the street hockey tourney slated for Friday, July 22. Teams can field four players aged 10-16, with a maximum of 10 teams again being accepted.
And any skateboarders interested in participating in a demonstration on Thursday, July 21 at 1 p.m. are asked to register during sign-up day.
Early registration will determine whether these events will take place at all.
