FFCBC social promises to ‘Kick Bass’

While everybody knows the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship is the premier social event of the summer here, organizers are planning a fundraiser next Saturday (May 13) that promises to “kick bass.”
Tickets for the age of majority social, which starts at 7 p.m. on the Ice for Kids Arena ice surface, went on sale last Friday and Saturday at the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce’s annual home and leisure show.
They now are available at the Chamber of Commerce office on Scott Street, the Emo Inn, and various other locations.
Tickets cost $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
The social will feature live music by well-known local band “Thinking of Pinky.” There also will be free coffee and popcorn, as well as attendance draws and prizes.
One aspect of the party organizers are hoping will bring in lots of dollars is the silent auction of a boat and motor package sponsored by Pinewood Sports & Marine, Lund, and Mercury, as well as three individual silent auctions of a boat, a motor and a trailer.
Bidding on these started at this past weekend’s trade show and will continue until the “Kick Bass” social.
All proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards FFCBC event operations.
In related news, the bass tourney is looking for volunteers to help with this year’s event in July.
While the FFCBC was at the trade show signing people up this past Friday and Saturday, those interested in getting involved still can do so either by calling 274-0316, contacting volunteer director Tara Albanese via e-mail (volunteers@canadianbass.com), or logging on to www.canadianbass.com and filling out an online registration form.
