Those interested in attending Saturday night’s “ABBAmania” concert at the Townshend Theatre, but haven’t bought tickets yet, should do so quickly since only a few are left.
Penny Faragher, an employee at Northwoods Gallery & Gifts where the tickets are being sold, noted yesterday afternoon that only some seats in the very front rows and near the back remain.
“ABBAmania” is set to offer up one night of performances by such legends as Rod Stewart (Dave Battah), Tina Turner (Sonia Ndongmo), and, of course, ABBA.
The evening also will feature the London Symphony Orchestra Violins.
“We wanted to come to Fort Frances—small towns are great,” enthused Garry Lichach of Bounty Enterprises, which produces the show.
“It’s going to be a great night,” he added. “[People will] be talking about this for a long time.”
Linach promised it’s going to be an excellent show.
“It’s an all-Canadian cast, with authentic costumes, dialogue, the look, the vocals, and we bring a live band. . . .
“And we do all the hits—everything from ‘Waterloo’ to ‘Dancing Queen,’” he remarked, adding Stewart and Turner are the opening acts.
“These people are so talented that [the audience is] going to think it’s Tina Turner and Rod Stewart,” he said.
Tickets, which Lichach said normally cost anywhere from $40-$80, are just $30 for the Fort Frances performance, which starts at 7:30 p.m.
