Festival program now available

“The last-minute [worries] have hit,” John Jankiewicz admitted yesterday when discussing the upcoming Rainy River District Festival of the Performing Arts.
The Rainy River Music Festival Association, of which Jankiewicz is president, has been working hard to get the last-minute details ironed out before the April 16-29 competition.
“This whole thing has really gathered some momentum and is taking off,” Jankiewicz said. “The program, that will detail when and where each performance will be, should be out for the public on Wednesday [today].
“For those people who pick it up, they should remember to check the time and place where they will be performing because we have made some changes,” he added.
The programs, which cost $2 each, will be available at Tammi’s Flowers, Cards and Gifts, as well as the public libraries in Fort Frances and Emo.
Jankiewicz also is happy to announce that this year the festival will be offering dance workshops for various age groups.
“On Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22, we will be holding some dance workshops,” he remarked. “On Saturday, we will hold two workshops for children ages five to nine and 10 to 13.
“On Sunday, our workshop will be for children ages 14 and up.”
Registration for these weekend classes is limited. And depending on how many children sign up, the groupings and times of the workshops may still change.
“Depending on the ages of the children who enroll, we may have to make some changes, but I would encourage people to register early so that they can ensure they get to participate in the workshops,” stressed Jankiewicz.
To enroll, contact Darlyss Krienke (274-9705) or send the $2 registration fee to: Attn. Dance Workshops, 811 Scott St., Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 1J3.
