The International Falls Police Department, Koochiching County Sheriff’s Department along with help from a St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department Deputy and his bloodhound, the DNR, and local divers, searched for 74-year-old Charles Kay Johnson of International Falls at the Shorewood River Access on the Rainy River.
Johnson had a bench warrant issued for his arrest due to the fact he didn’t appear Monday afternoon for a court hearing.
His vehicle was located with personal items at the Shorewood River Access.
A subsequent search of the river and surrounding wooded areas produced negative results.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. today, Johnson was struck by a motor vehicle on Hwy 11-71 just north of County Road 107.
He was taken to Falls Memorial Hospital where he passed away.
