Falls businesswomen plan third meeting

The Women’s Business Network in International Falls, sponsored by the Small Business Development Center, met for the second time on Feb. 14 at the Coffee Landing Metro.
Fifteen local business women heard a presentation from Julie Schumacher, RRCC Customized Training Specialist, on the importance of goal-setting and strategic planning.
Schumacher outlined the process of strategic planning, highlighting the importance of utilizing measurable goals, having a mission statement, and a vision of where you want to go with your business.
In addition to providing handouts, examples, and insight, Schumacher left the group with a message of the importance of goals—and revisiting these goals and what you have accomplished each year.
The next Women’s Business Network meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 13 at 2 p.m. at the Coffee Landing Metro, with the topic being “A Winter Weekend Getaway in International Falls.”
The topic was mentioned at the January and February meetings with the idea of bringing a group to International Falls for a weekend of activities to choose from.
Penny Strongman, of Strongman Travel, will join the group to assist with bringing groups to the area and possibly in co-ordination of events.
Betsy Jensen, the new president of the Falls Chamber of Commerce, also will join the group to update on upcoming Chamber-sponsored events.
All local business women are encouraged to attend the monthly Women’s Business Network meetings (which are held the second Thursday of each month at 2 p.m. at the Coffee Landing Metro) for networking, support, and sharing of information and resources.
