With local interest growing in having an assisted living facility in Rainy River District, the public may be interested in attending a presentation tomorrow night in International Falls.
An information session about the new Northwinds Assisted Living building, being built on Keenan Drive, will be held at 7 p.m. in the Good Samaritan Society—International Falls care centre’s dining room.
The care centre is located at 1402 Highway 71 (right next to the hospital).
Construction on the Northwinds Assisted Living Centre is underway, with the project expected to be completed in July or August.
According to the Good Samaritan Society website, the facility will offer “the ideal blend of independence and skilled support for those who want to live on their own but need additional help to do so.”
“Seniors 55 and older can enjoy a private apartment furnished with their own belongings and the comfort of 24-hour assistance from our caring and kind staff,” it adds.
Northwinds Assisted Living will be designed in three campus neighbourhoods of eight apartments with personalized levels of care.
Each assisted living apartment includes a living room, bedroom, private bath, and a kitchenette to support a comfortable, private, home-style environment.
The presentation should be of interest not only to possible future residents and their families, but anyone interested in finding out how the Northwinds project came together.
“It fits in with what we are doing,” said Erma Armit, chair of the Assisted Living Action Group (A.L.A.G.) here, adding the Good Samaritan Society—International Falls is “an excellent nearby resource.”
“It’s going to be a really great public presentation. You can learn a lot about what is going to take place,” said Good Samaritan Society—International Falls certified nursing assistant Jennifer McKelvey.
Northwinds Assisted Living is being built on the new Good Samaritan Society campus.
