Area women should be sure to mark this Saturday (Oct. 21) on their calendars as the Business Women’s Network of Rainy River District will be holding its fall tea and fashion show.
The event is slated from 2-4 p.m. at the Fort Frances Volunteer Bureau (old CN station) and will include:
•a fashion show by Mark’s Work Wearhouse;
•a hair and make-up makeover demonstration by the experts at Bombshell;
•a fitness demo by trainer Anna Cunningham; and
•a dancing demonstration courtesy of Chantelle Spuzak’s Dancemakers.
There also will be refreshments, dainties, and door prizes.
Admission is $5 in advance or $6 at the door. Tickets are available at Northwoods Gallery & Gifts.
BWN member Angela Halvorsen said Friday that everyone is encouraged to attend the fall tea and fashion show—an event which serves several purposes for the group.
“It is a fundraiser for us. That money goes towards the betterment of our members,” she noted.
“We have things like computer training that we pay for. We sponsor the Business Woman of the Year award for the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce. We do a bursary every year.
“Basically, the money goes back into the community,” Halvorsen stressed.
“It’s also a chance to get people out, woman in particular,” she added. “And it’s a chance for the participants—like Mark’s Work Wearhouse and Bombshell and the rest of them—to promote themselves.
Halvorsen said the fall tea and fashion show also coincides with the BWN’s membership drive, and is a good opportunity for local businesswomen who aren’t members already to check it out.
The local Business Women’s Network is an organization for business and professional women who are committed to the growth and development of themselves, their business, and the community.
