Fabulous response for ‘angel’ campaign

People across the district opened their hearts once again this year to make sure the “Adopt an Angel” campaign was a success.
“It was wonderful this year, it was fabulous,” enthused Debra Bruyere of Family and Children’s Services of the Rainy River District, which runs the annual campaign to collect presents for children in need and in their care.
“We actually had almost every ‘angel’ adopted this year,” noted Bruyere.
“It was amazing.”
About 170 angels were up for “adoption” this year, with people being able to drop by either The Bargain Shop or Wal-Mart here, or Tompkins Hardware in Emo, to purchase presents for the children.
The trees set up at the various locations were taken down this past Friday, and presents will be delivered to all of the children in time for Christmas Day.
By the time the campaign wrapped up Friday, only three “angels” had not been adopted, said Bruyere.
But she stressed FACS will be making sure that these three, and any other child taken into care for the holidays, is looked after.
“The public response was fantastic and we want to thank them for that,” Bruyere reiterated.
