Expera Speciality Solutions is seeking support from FedNor and FedDev Ontario to offset some of the investment required to re-open the kraft mill here.
According to the Office of the Commissioner of Lobbying of Canada, Toronto-based consulting firm Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP is registered to work for Expera Speciality Solutions.
The consultant became registered earlier this month.
As reported last month, Wisconsin-based Expera Specialty Solutions has signed a letter of intent with Resolute Forest Products.
As noted at that time, the deal will depend on several factors, including getting a new Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the biomass boiler and securing wood rights for the Crossroute Forest allotment.
Expera Specialty Solutions was in Fort Frances on Sept. 23 to meet with district municipal leaders and Treaty #3 First Nations reps.
The local kraft mill has been idled since November, 2012.
