A limited number of Fort Frances Power Corp. customers in the central part of town experienced a brief power interruption this afternoon after an equipment failure on the 100 block of Scott Street.
FFPC CEO and president Joerg Ruppenstein said a lightning arrestor failed and had to be replaced.
This type of equipment failure is relatively common, and the FFPC has to repair two or three per year, he added.
Ruppenstein noted that such equipment wears out over time, and sometimes a sudden change in temperature, such as today, is the final straw which causes the failure.
