Efforts are underway to help local resident Cindy McCormick with medical expenses—and ensure her 10-year-old son has a good Christmas here.
Terri Davis of the Makabi Inn said McCormick, who works there, recently had to be flown to Toronto to receive emergency medical care.
Davis noted McCormick had three brain aneurysms, has had two removed, and currently is in critical condition.
While some of her family is by her side, McCormick’s son, Jesse, remains in town this Christmas, she added.
Davis said she wants the public to know they can help McCormick and her family by dropping off donations at the Makabi Inn (325 Scott St.)
She explained donations could be toys to ensure Jesse has a good Christmas, or money to help the family during this time of hardship.
“She’s still fighting off infection,” Davis stressed. “She’s got a really long recovery road ahead of her.
“I think my main goal is to get some financial aid for this family.”
Davis and Sandra Allan also are organizing a spaghetti supper fundraiser for McCormick on Friday, Jan. 6 at the Métis Hall.
There will be two seatings—the first from 4-6 p.m. and the second at 6-8 p.m.
The cost is $10/plate.
