Downtown Fort Frances will be hopping this Saturday, as the Fort Frances Kiwanis Club and local BIA once again will be hosting “Egg-stravaganza.”
The wildly popular annual event will take place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the Great Canadian Main Street (Scott Street).
Children can pick up a map of the participating businesses at the Rainy Lake Square and then collect treats along the route, which includes stopping at a total of 16 businesses on the 200 and 300 blocks of Scott Street.
Kids are asked to bring their own basket or bag.
The Easter Bunny also will be downtown, so parents and guardians can bring their own cameras to take photos if kids with the friendly visitor.
After making the rounds, children can then return their map to the booth set up at the Rainy Lake Square and enter their names in a draw for a chance to win one of at least 20 prize baskets.
If they want to enter the draw, they must bring return their map before 1 p.m. Entrants must use a local phone number for the Kiwanis to get in contact with winners; even if you’re a visitor from out of town, please don’t use a long-distance number–use the number of local relative or friend.
There also will be three bikes available to be won. These have been donated by Flint House, T-Bone Consulting and Gizhewaadiziwin Health Access Centre.
Lead organizer Diane Maxey said the event is shaping up to be bigger than ever, with plenty of volunteers and 33 sponsors taking part–in addition to the participating businesses where kids will be able to go to.
There also will be a barbecue lunch at the square ($4) and mini-donuts for sale (10 for $5). Proceeds will go to youth activities.
