Easter egg sale raises money

Tess Coish and Kelly Calder want to let the local businesses that participated in the sale of Easter Seal eggs this year know how grateful they are for their support.
“The campaign did get off to a slow start,” Coish admitted. “But the businesses we talked to were just great. They were all very supportive, which was nice to see.”
Although she would have liked to have raised more money, Coish still is pleased with the overall response she received from the community.
“I was working with Kelly Calder and between the two of us, we did quite well. We managed to raise $1,000 for Easter Seals and we are very happy with that,” Coish said.
“The businesses in town were very helpful and we are hoping that they will decide to work with us again next year,” she added.
As a parent of a disabled child, Coish decided to get involved in the egg-selling campaign in order to give back to an organization that has helped her family.
“My son, Christopher, has been receiving help from Easter Seals for many years now,” she noted. “Easter Seals has helped us pay for a nerve and muscle graph that Christopher recently had.
“They have been providing services for us and it has really help us out a great deal.”
Despite their bumpy start, both Coish and Calder were happy with the campaign although Coish admitted she will have to make some changes next year.
“I really only had one week to get the Easter eggs out there,” she noted. “Even when I was handing out the paper eggs, I still didn’t have the posters to advertise what they were and what the campaign was about.
“Next year I hope it will go better and we will be able to raise more money. I think I will have to have a different strategy,” she concluded.
