Easter cantata singers sought

The first rehearsal for this year’s Easter cantata is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. at the New Beginnings Fellowship.
Diane Maxey, who once again will be directing the choir, is asking those interested in participating to contact her beforehand at 274-7309.
She is welcoming any new voices to join the Fort Frances Choraliers for the Easter cantata, which traditionally boasts fewer singers than its Christmas counterpart.
Maxey has CDs and songbooks for this year’s cantata, entitled “Redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb,” which will be available to cantata singers for a small fee.
Practices will be held each Monday in March at 7 p.m. at the New Beginnings Fellowship (1301 Mill Rd.)
The cantata itself will not performed until after Easter Sunday, which falls on April 1 this year.
Instead, the first performance will be held Sunday, April 8 at 1:30 p.m. at Rainycrest.
The second performance will follow on Sunday, April 15 at 3 p.m. at the New Beginnings Fellowship.
The third and final performance will take place Sunday, April 22 at 3 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in International Falls.
In other Easter-related news, Maxey said the Fort Frances Kiwanis Club will not be holding a Good Friday breakfast this year.
But the club will hold its fifth-annual “Egg-Stravaganza,” in conjunction with the Shops on Scott, on Saturday, March 31.
Keep your rabbit ears open for more details in the weeks ahead.
