Easter cantata in the works

While a listening session for those interested in singing in this year’s Easter cantata is scheduled for this coming Monday (Jan. 29), those planning to attend are highly encouraged to call choir director Diane Maxey ahead of time.
Maxey said Monday she currently only has 40 sets of song books for the cantata and would like to know A.S.A.P. if she needs to order any more.
“They can give me a call. I need to know how many people are really interested in it,” she remarked. “I’m going to end up ordering more books if I get my usual 60 [choir members] back.
“I’ve got 15 or 20 that have already gone out,” Maxey added. “I just wanted to get a number so I could get a head count.”
The listening session, slated for 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, is to give those interested a chance to hear the songs they’ll be singing.
If they’re still interested afterwards, they can buy song books and CDs from Maxey and take them home to practice.
Maxey said the actual rehearsals won’t begin for another three weeks or so after this initial listening session.
