e-business conference coming here

The Northwestern Ontario Associated Chambers of Commerce is staging a conference here next month to help local entrepreneurs take advantage of electronic business.
Called the Northern Ontario Online Outreach Initiative (NOI), the conference will feature two days of seminars and workshops April 10-11 at the Red Dog Inn.
“There is a practical application of e-commerce for almost any business. Even non-profit groups like service clubs or charities can get the links they need,” said NOACC president-elect Tannis Drysdale.
Some of the topics will include digital/Web marketing, electronic management, implications of industry changes, Web site appraisals, adding interactivity to sites, the impact of e-business on businesses and communities, and the “Virtual Incubator,” also known as the Northern Ontario Technology Centre.
“The workshops are definitely not set up for just IT [Information Technology] people,” stressed Drysdale. “For instance, the tourism industry already is working closely with Web marketing.
“Essentially, any industry may want to check out a session or two,” she added.
Sponsored by NOACC, with assistance from FedNor, the conference here is one stop on a tour which starts soon in Schreiber.
“NOACC is promoting this educational opportunity because we believe that electronic commerce will have a major impact on business in Northern Ontario,” Drysdale said.
For more information or to register, contact Angela Halvorsen at the Rainy River Future Development Corp. (274-3276). The cost is $25, which allows people to attend as many of the presentations as they want.
