Jason Cain and Dan Tucker had a three-fish total of 14.22 pounds to snare the annual Rainy Lake Fall Bass Classic title held Saturday at La Belle’s Birch Point Camp on Northwest Bay.
The duo also weighed in the biggest fish of the one-day tournament–a 5.31-pound lunker.
It was a nice jump for the Fort Frances natives, who finished third at last year’s tourney with a 12.18-pound total.
Chris Zahn and Bob French were a close second this year with 13.53 pounds.
Taking third were Greg Stahn and Theo DeGroot (13.26), who weighed in a 4.88-pounder as their big fish.
Jason and Van Pavleck were fourth (13.02) while Jeff Brag and Ross Steele rounded out the top five (12.69).
Bragg and Steele also reeled in the second-biggest fish of the tourney (4.91 pounds).
Brandon and Jake Kamm were sixth (12.53), followed by Ryan McDowell and Mike Badiuk (12.36), Scott and Ralph Galusha (11.71), and James Kaemingh and Bryan Hughes (11.68).
Mike and Javyn Maxton rounded out the top 10 (11.62).
Some 32 teams took part this year, with only four of them getting skunked.
This annual event features a three-fish limit.
