The 30th-annual Ducks Unlimited fundraising dinner and charity auction is set to take place this Friday (May 3).
The popular event again will take place at La Place Rendez-Vous, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.
Don Cumming, who is helping organize prizes for the event, expects the last six tickets will sell fast.
“It sells out early all the time,” he remarked, noting the committee started with 180 tickets this year.
Tickets, which can be purchased at the Fort Frances Times, cost $50/person or $90/couple.
This price also includes membership to Ducks Unlimited, as well as a magazine subscription.
Meanwhile, there are plenty of prizes to be won in the raffle, as well as the silent and live auctions.
Cumming noted many prints will be raffled off, as well as items such as a 75th-anniversary shotgun from Ducks Unlimited and a Schwinn mountain bike from Canadian Tire.
A lawn mower, recliner chairs, an ice auger, a crossbow, and a television also are up for grabs.
There is a display in McTaggart’s front window for those interested in viewing some of the many prizes available.
“There are prizes for everyone,” Cumming stressed.
Many local business have donated items, including Canadian Tire, Badiuk Equipment, and Sunset Country Ford.
Other prizes were supplied by Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.
Cumming said proceeds from the event will “help DUC to preserve wetlands [and other habitats].”
As well, money raised helps fund scientific research, public policies, and wetland education in Canada.
“It’s a fun time to be had by all,” Cumming enthused.
Last year’s banquet here raised $23,893 for DUC.
