Drug unit showed results

Despite being active only since Nov. 30, and members are new to this type of enforcement, the Kenora Joint Forces Drug Unit has been successful to date.
Composed of the OPP and Kenora Police Service, the drug unit conducted 13 investigations that resulted in 21 charges against 15 people.
Of the charges, 10 were possession for the purposes of trafficking while four were for possession of a controlled substance.
Other charges included careless storage of a firearm (two), trafficking in a controlled substance, and production of a controlled substance, along with two other Criminal Code charges and one other statute charge.
Police also seized 1.05 kg of marijuana, nine g of cocaine, and three long guns, with a street value of $22,000.
