On Thursday (Sept. 22), Community Drug Action Team members from the Fort Frances OPP detachment, assisted by members of the Drug Enforcement and the Canine Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on the 600 block of Scott Street.
While executing the warrant, the male resident fled on foot but was quickly apprehended in a nearby home by the Canine Unit.
A female resident was arrested on site.
Officers seized roughly seven pounds of marijuana, along with a small amount of Oxycodone and hydro-morphine.
Officers also requested the assistance of members of the Ministry of Natural Resources when they discovered an illegal quantity of walleye in the residence.
The MNR is investigating.
The street value of the drugs seized is roughly $65,000.
Kevin House, 33, of Fort Frances was charged with possession of marijuana for the purposes of trafficking, possession of Oxycodone, possession of hydro-morphine, and unlawfully in a dwelling house.
Laura Wickstrom, 27, of Fort Frances was charged with possession of marijuana for the purposes of trafficking, possession of Oxycodone, possession of hydro-morphine, and obstruction of justice
House was held in custody. Wickstrom was released and will appear in court Oct. 31.
The Combined Forces Organized Crime Unit consists of members from the Thunder Bay Police Service, OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, RCMP, Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service, and Anishinabek Police Service.
