With cold weather conditions always threatening to put our district into a deep freeze, the OPP would like drivers to “Lock It or Lose It!”
Police want drivers to take a few simple precautions to help protect themselves and their vehicles from opportunistic criminals.
Property crime is everyone’s business and the Rainy River District OPP has noticed an increase in the amount of thefts from vehicles.
Vehicles left warming up in driveways on cold mornings, or outside of coffee shops, convenience stores, and ATM locations, are highly vulnerable to being stolen.
Many thefts of vehicles and their contents can be easily prevented.
The “Lock It or Lose It” program reminds drivers to always:
•roll up their vehicles’ windows;
•keep valuables out of sight;
•lock their doors;
•pocket their keys; and
•never leave your vehicle unattended while it is running!
The key to protecting your vehicle is in your hands. Keep yourself from becoming an easy target by properly securing your vehicle
