On Sunday around 6:10 p.m., members of the Rainy River District OPP were dispatched to a report of an impaired driver on Scott Street who almost had caused a collision and then pulled into the Safeway parking lot.
The vehicle was located and upon speaking to the driver, the officer suspected he was under the influence of a controlled substance.
Further investigation and testing revealed the driver had alcohol in his body. He then was transported to the Fort Frances detachment for further testing.
A 19-year-old Couchiching resident subsequently was charged with care or control of a motor vehicle while impaired and having care or control of a motor vehicle with an unsealed container of liquor.
He was released on a promise to appear in court here Oct. 29.
On Friday around 6:10 p.m., two members of the Rainy River District OPP were dispatched to a report of an impaired driver on Highway 11 in Morley Township.
Officers located the suspect vehicle and eventually stopped it near Morley Dilke Road.
Officers spoke to the driver and immediately determined she had alcohol in her body.
She subsequently was arrested and transported to the Rainy River detachment, where more tests were to take place.
The driver refused to provide a breath sample.
A 54-year-old Watten Township woman was charged with impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample.
She was released on a promise to appear in court Oct. 31 in Rainy River.
