Kenora OPP officers, including members of the Highway Safety Division, responded to a motor vehicle collision yesterday on Highway 17.
The collision, involving a westbound tractor-trailer unit and an eastbound vehicle, occurred around 5:30 p.m. just west of Clearwater Bay.
The driver of the motor vehicle was taken to Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora, where he died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.
Members of the OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision Investigating Unit were called to assist with the investigation.
Both the Kenora and Clearwater Bay fire departments attended the scene to assist with removing the driver from his vehicle.
Highway 17 was closed for about five hours while officers investigated the accident, which remains ongoing.
