Driver faces several charges

A Red Gut Bay woman, 41, faces several charges following an incident just before 7 p.m. on Sunday (Jan. 2) on the 1200 block of Colonization Road West.
Fort Frances OPP officers spotted a pickup truck backing out of a driveway. It blocked both lanes, and then began to reverse towards the police cruiser.
The officers stopped the vehicle, and arrested and charged the woman with driving while impaired and driving with a blood alcohol level over 80 mg.
She also was charged with assaulting a peace officer.
She was released and will appear in court Jan. 24.
On New Year’s Day, a Fort Frances man, 35, was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a common area after Fort Frances OPP investigated a disturbance at 275 First St. E. around 3:30 a.m.
The man was held in custody pending sobriety, police said.
Also on Jan. 1 just after 9 p.m., a Thunder Bay man, 24, was arrested and charged with assault after police investigated a complaint on the 200 block of Scott Street.
The man was released and will appear in court Jan. 31.
