Al Thorleifson taught senior English, math, and choral music at Nellie McClung Collegiate in Manitou, Man. for 38 years.
He has since gone back to university a fourth time.
He has taught public speaking and dramatic arts at many levels, both in the schools and in the community. As well, he is a published poet and story-teller.
Thorleifson has acted and performed in festivals and concerts for decades—and still enjoys doing so.
He integrated these story-telling skills into the classroom as a teacher and worked to develop the same skills in his students.
Thorleifson also has worked with many NGOs and other organizations to ensure that students and new employees were aware of the reality of the business and professional academic community–how is learning applied in the real world?
He continues to develop partnerships with local businesses, where young people can explore careers which they are considering in their futures.
