Rainy River District OPP participated in the province-wide distracted driving enforcement campaign from Feb. 13-19.
Within this period, officers charged eight motorists for driving while using a cellphone or device capable of texting.
The resulting fine was $155.
A total of 21 charges were laid in Northwestern Ontario during the same blitz.
Police remind the public of the dangers and risks posed to others when a driver is talking on a phone or texting while operating a vehicle.
