Press Release
The Borealis Bards is excited to announce its fourth-annual “Room to Act” dinner theatre event on the evening of Saturday, April 21 at the Backus Community Centre in International Falls.
This year’s theme is “A Day in the Life” and will feature an entertaining collection of song, monologue, short plays, comedy, and a little improv.
Audience members will dine on a delicious menu of Chicken Kiev, wild rice, and vegetables, followed by a variety of entertainment that takes them from room to room throughout the Backus building.
The evening finishes with a return to the main stage for dessert and final performances.
Beth Lowthian, program director of the Borealis Bards, commented on how much the cast looks forward to this unique production each year.
“The selection of the pieces we perform is quite an organic process,” she noted.
“We meet for a couple of weeks as a group, review new material, and then decide what speaks to us.
“For the next few weeks we split up into our various casts to rehearse and then join back together right before the evening performance,” Lowthian added.
“It’s a much more relaxed process than putting on a full-length stage production,” she remarked.
“And the audience always has a great time!”
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner beginning at 6 p.m. (a cash bar will be available).
The $40 ticket includes dinner, dessert, and the show, which is available at Backus or City Drug.
Seating is limited so people are encouraged to buy tickets in advance rather than at the door.
