There’s another jackpot winner in the Rainy River District thanks to Riverside Health Care’s 50/50 Draw.
In a press release from Riverside, the healthcare organization announced that Danielle Hammond of Devlin was the winner of the August 50/50 draw, a win that netted her $17,677.50.
Riverside shared that Hammond was in a state of disbelief when she was first contacted about her win, but once the shock had worn off, she was glad to have taken the call.
“I just started buying the Riverside ones again last month,” Hammond said.
“This was not the call I was expecting today. That turned my day around 100 per cent!”

Riverside Health Care Director of Fundraising Holly Kaemingh said calling another local winner of the 50/50 draw was an exciting way to close out the month, which marks another strong month of sales for the fundraiser draw.
“It’s always exciting to make that call and hear the reaction on the other end,” Kaemingh said.
“We’ve now seen 11 consecutive jackpots over $10,000, and it’s especially exciting when those prizes are won right here in our district. It really is a win-win for our communities. Someone gets an incredible surprise, while every ticket purchased helps support local health care.”
The Riverside 50/50 draws have been a successful initiative for the organization and have made a considerable impact in recent fundraising efforts, including the now-concluded Lights, Camera, DIAGNOSIS! Campaign, which had been working to raise funds to bring in an expansive suite of cutting-edge diagnostic imaging technology and equipment to hospitals across the Rainy River District, including its first MRI machine. The campaign was successfully concluded in July of 2026, and ground has since been broken on the new MRI suite at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
With the organization between large fundraising campaigns at the moment, funds from the monthly 50/50 draws will still go towards helping pay for necessary equipment for the facilities through Riverside’s General Equipment Fund.
Tickets for September’s 50/50 draw are now on sale at www.rhc5050.com, or by stopping by the La Verendrye General Hospital Administration Office Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., by calling 807-274-6635, or by visiting in person every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside the Main Entrance of La Verendrye General Hospital off Front Street.
Tickets purchased before Sept. 11 qualify for the Early Bird Prize of $1,000, sponsored by The Barn.
“Every ticket purchased provides a chance to win while supporting important health care improvements across Riverside Health Care,” Riverside said in its announcement.
“Proceeds from the Riverside 50/50 help ensure exceptional care remains close to home for residents across the Rainy River District and surrounding communities.”
