With the new watermain along King’s Highway between Webster Avenue and the west entrance of Tim Hortons going into service, there will be more modifications to the temporary traffic control plan starting late Monday afternoon (Oct. 5).
The following detour will be in place:
•One stop sign will be added to the Holmes Avenue/King’s Highway intersection for eastbound traffic along King’s Highway (this intersection thus will be a four-way stop).
•Eastbound traffic along King’s Highway will continue to take a detour north on Holmes Avenue and proceed to the Third Street intersection, where they’ll be directed to turn right and proceed eastbound back to the highway at the Third Street West/King’s Highway intersection.
There’s no reason to use Fourth Street West.
•Eastbound traffic along King’s Highway that wishes to access Tim Hortons, Subway, Husky, Fort Frances Chiropractic Centre (Dr. Jeremy McGuire), and Simplicity Professional Hair & Body Care will detour north on Holmes Avenue and proceed to the Second Street West intersection.
Traffic then will be directed to turn right and proceed eastbound to Webster Avenue, then turn right and proceed to King’s Highway.
•Southbound traffic along Wright Avenue won’t be able to access King’s Highway while westbound traffic along King’s Highway won’t be able to access Wright Avenue.
•There will be no changes to westbound traffic on King’s Highway (the highway will remain open at the Central Avenue intersection, where traffic will flow as normal up to the Webster Avenue intersection).
At Webster Avenue, the two westbound traffic lanes will merge down to one lane to Wright Avenue (through the third stage of the construction) and then go back to two lanes at Holmes Avenue.
Bay City Contracting is continuing to work on schedule and is expected to be done by mid-October.
The exact route through the construction zone will be adjusted as work progresses.
